Dispensing Application using SmartMotors™ and Contouring mode to enable constant speed dispensing onto irregular 3-D shapes
The application required that PU (Polyurethane) be dispensed at constant speed onto the perimeter of a windscreen with a 3-D Profile. The windscreen was rotated about a central axis and the dispensing head was controlled by a vertical and horizontal axis at the periphery of the windscreen. The rectangular shape meant that in order for the dispensing speed to be constant then the speed of rotation had to be controlled in co-ordination with the angle or rotation.
Animatics SmartMotors were used on the rotating, vertical and horizontal axes and the 3-D co-ordinate points were mapped out using a teach and learn routine. The points were then used by SMIEngine which is a co-ordinated move system designed to control the smartmotors from a PC. SMS wrote the application code for an industrial PC and commissioned the application with the OEM. The use of integrated servo motors ensured a great value solution but with powerful features and a much simpler installation method than traditional methods.
The time to manufacture and commission this system was significantly less than previous methods. |
